My practice is grounded in childhood experiences with neo-paganism, the paranormal, conservative christianity, and experimental schooling that highly valued learning in nature.
Growing up, these influences blended together and informed my understanding of landscape. The sloping blue hills and greenest forests of the subtropical Rockfish Valley in rural Virginia became a place of spiritual discovery for me.
I became deeply attentive to the changing of the seasons, and the metaphorical weight these changes bring to my experience of landscape. The images I create are my expression of the awesome, precious, and sacred I’ve thus far encountered in life. In making art, I aim to lift special moments out of hiding and into the open.
